We've hit critical mass in our department, with class sizes growing and a need for more faculty to give our students more of what they need.
We're trying to split our advertising program from PR.
We're trying to incorporate more new media and diverse media courses for our print and broadcast majors. (i.e., requiring TV Production and video editing of not only broadcast, but print students) In addition, we may reconstitute our Specialized Reporting class as an online-multimedia course.
We expect these changes will take place in a couple of years...things have to be decided by lots of administrators and we need time to change degree plans and catalogs. (I empathize with Sue from Michigan about the glacial pace of change in academia versus the newsroom)
