The University of Mississippi's department of journalism just received a big chunk of dough from one of it's former grads. Ed Meek gave $5 million and is looking to find ways to make that number multiply by a factor of four. Within two years we will become a school of journalism. How that will differ from a department is yet to be outlined. The journalism department this past week started a committee to explore needed changes in the curriculum. What we teach is going to change. The folks here are interested in what I learn at Poynter and I hope to have some real influence in deciding matters of curriculum.
