What works at American University, Part II
Permalink

As you may have noticed, Stephanie Blake and I are both on faculty at American University School of Communication -- she's a broadcast prof, and I'm print. Though in our school's "convergence" plan, those distinctions will eventually become irrelevant.

Stephanie's summed up what's going on at American well. I'd just add a couple things:

- We have a special class this semester focused on covering political campaigns in which a group of graduate and undergraduate students went to the New Hampshire primary and produced multi-media reports and posted them live on our school's Web site.
- The School of Communication plans to move into a newly renovated $20 million building, designed for multimedia journalism with a converged newsroom, editing suites, etc. We're currently evaluating the curriculum to transition it toward a convergence model. A continuing fund-raising drive and many faculty meetings TK.
